Hana O'Regan gets fellowship to new language centre
Tuesday 6th September, 2011
Ngai Tahu educator Hana O'Regan has been awarded a fellowship to the International Centre for Language Revitalisation at Auckland University of Technology.
Ngai Tahu kaiwhakahaere Mark Solomon says she will join academics from around the world who are harnessing technology to save endangered languages.
Ms O'Regan has a long association with AUT's Te Ipukarea - National Maori Language Institute, which recently expanded to include the centre following international interest in the institute's production of digital Maori language resources.
She has been a member of The Maori Language Commission since 2003 and managed the Maori Language Unit at Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu.
