Mana not sitting down with kupapa

Tuesday 8th November, 2011

The Tamaki Makaurau candidate for the Mana Party says Maori like the party's no-compromise approach.

The latest Te Karere Digipoll has Mana picking up 25 per cent of the party vote in the Maori seats, only two points behind the Maori Party's support level.

Kereama Pene says the two parties want the same things, but a vote for Mana is a vote to keep the government on its toes.

“We have a leader of our movement who is not prepared to sit at a table with kupapa and I tell you what, there are a lot of people saying to Hone, good on you mate, you didn't want the crumbs of the Pakeha table,” he says.

Mr Pene says it's time to stop wasting money on Maori research and advisory groups, and give it direct to those it is supposed to help.
